Time Warp

Vintage clothing fairs and events seem to be ever increasing in the North East at the moment, with numerous fairs visiting Newcastle and events going on in the next few weeks. On Saturday 20th October, The Newcastle Vintage Fair took place at The Castlegate.

We arrived quite late on in the day, however there was still crowds of people sifting through racks and suitcases full of vintage treasures, from the 1940s to the 1980s. There was also a vintage tea room so after you had grabbed some bargains you could relax with a cup of tea and a cupcake.

A mix of people attended, men, women and even children and it was inspiring to see such a variety of looks and styles. For those who wanted a more vivid experience, The Vintage Salon was doing hair and make up appointments all day.

I was extremely tempted by the fur coats and gorgeous evening dresses, which were ideal for all those christmas parties, while my friend tackled the rows and rows of wooly jumpers, necessary for Newcastle temperatures.

A personal highlight, was finding a Chanel bag for £75, but I eventually settled on a printed shirt dress and a cream silk T-shirt – both of which have already been worn!

Although the fair was very busy this added to the atmosphere, you can’t beat the thrill of finding a cheap vintage piece before the rest of the crowds!
